Market Basket Frozen Cauliflower
|
I love having a bag of this stuff in the freezer when I
absolutely need a quick side or a quick veggie to put in a stew. Just steam
up a bag of this stuff, mash it, and put in some heavy cream, sour cream,
butter and bacon bits. Top it with cheese and put it in the oven until the
cheese melts. (My daughter eats all of the fresh cauliflower raw.)

Market Basket Frozen Turnip
|
If you can’t cut the fresh turnip, this is a good
alternative. I use it in stews.

Berries
|
Market Basket consistently has small containers of
blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries for $2.99 each week. If you eat
them with cereal every day, this is a lifesaver!

If you aren’t worried about nitrates, Market Basket has
the least expensive but recognized brand name meats around. Their Rosemary
Ham at $5.99 tastes the same as Stop & Shop’s at $8.99 a pound.

Joseph’s Middle East Low Carb Pitas
|
This is where you find them, in the deli section. They are
quite good when you want a change of pace from a low carb wrap. They were
selling them 2 packages for $3. They are now $1.99 a pack. (Now also sold at
BJ’s if you can’t find them here, 3 packages for $4 something.)

Great low-cost cheese selection, including Rondele Pub
Cheese $1.99 for 8 oz. and Rondele Gourmet spreadable cheese, 1gram carbs, 2
for $4, sticker priced $2.69. Big blocks of hard cheese as well.

|
Has the large containers for the same price as Costco,
about $3.69.

|
They usually have this, but sometimes their dairy section
is decimated.

Ocean Spray Light Cranberry
|
This has 10 grams of sugar versus 30 grams in the regular
cranberry juice product. A nice alcoholic drink mixer in small quantities.

They now carry this. It was $1.99, now it is $2.19 for
four yogurts. This has 3 grams of carbs. Still the best everyday price
around.

Frozen Chicken Wings
|
Market Basket has a great price for a 5 lb. Bag. Now that
we have Carb Options barbecue sauce (that you can’t buy at Market Basket,)
there is no excuse not to have chicken wings once a week! (grin) I can hear
the dieticians screaming now! You don’t have to even cut these and they
aren’t coated with carbo-laden toppings!

Shrimp on a Skewer (frozen)

This is $8.99 for 12 skewers. A truly luxurious appetizer
that is easily prepared in a low carb manner by using butter and garlic or
low carb barbecue sauce.

things are getting easier to find in the northeast.)

Low-carb bread and bagels
|
Country Kitchen has a great low-carb bread with only 4g
per slice. Thomas’s now puts out a carb counting bagel with 16g of net carbs.
Atkins also has a bread line with Arnold at 6g of net carbs per slice. Also
now carries, When Pigs Fly Low Carb bread. Thomas’s also came out with their
low carb bagels and Carb Consider lower carb English muffins.

Simply Jif
|
Simply Jif has less sugar than regular peanut butter. My
kids and my husband prefer this over the more expensive almond butters or
macadamia nut butters. Only $1.99. (Carb Options is $2.69)

Stubb’s Moppin Sauce
|
Lower carbs than regular barbecue sauce. (But if Kraft
CarbWell is now out and the Carb Options barbecue sauce too. Market Basket
doesn’t carry the CarbWell yet, that is my favorite.)

Cardini’s Caesar Salad Dressing
|
Great off-the-shelf naturally low carb Caesar salad
dressing. Use it with some parmesan cheese. Market Basket has the best price
at $3.99 for the 20 oz size.

BP Smarter Carb Cookies
|
They have the best price $2.99, and I found the chocolate
covered meringues here! They also have all sorts of biscotti. (In the bread
section, not the low-carb section. They only had the biscotti in the low carb
section.)

The best prices on the these products, $1.99 for the
barbecue sauce. The Asian marinade is $2.59. They also have the peanut
butter, steak sauce, cheese sauces, salad dressings. Carb Options ranch
dressing, $2.99. Carb Options Alfredo,
Cheddar Cheese and Garden Style sauce, $2.69. (Or you can buy the Classico Alfredo sauce for $1.99) Carb
