Folks, I need your help. One reader writes:
Dear Low Carb Freedom,
I am so glad i found your site, it is exactly what I have been searching for. I love the Atkins bakery brand pita breads, but so far I have only ever seen them at Publix supermarkets and on the website. I'm going to California soon and am really hoping to find a way to get them there (Publix is a Florida grocery store). Plus, i just saw on the Atkins website that they are listed as discontinued, I hope that doesn't mean they have stopped making them all together! Please help me out. Thank you so much,
Sam
Bakeries and dairies are some of the food manufacturer that are very much regionalized in the US. Why? Because bread and milk have a limited shelf life. The major brand of low carb pitas in my area are Joseph's brand, and they are spectacular. There is also a Sahara Atkins brand that has a substantially higher carb count. I have visited other areas in the US and seen other low carb pita brands, but I forget the names. If you buy low carb pitas, please leave a comment below and tell us the name, the store chain where you buy them, the total carb count and the fiber carb count, if you have it.
This will help all of us when we travel if we forget to pack our favorite pitas in our luggage, which I always do!
I sell 0 carb WONDERFUL pitas much better than Atkins on my web site at www.kickthecarbz.com They are 7 grams of carbs and 7 grams of fiber made out of oat fiber and wheat bran and inulin.

As an alternative to pita bread, I've discovered some great low-carb tortillas that I use to make wraps for breakfasts and lunches. The name of the company is La Tortilla Factory. I first discovered them here in Memphis at a Schnuck's supermarket. Of course, within weeks, Schnuck's stopped carrying them! Luckily, I saved one of the packages, which had their web address: http://www.latortillafactory.com/ You can order directly from their website. The tortillas have a shelf life of about 3 months and don't need refrigeration, so I order the 10-package carton (100 tortillas in all) to cut down on the shipping costs, but you can order individual packages, too.

I don't have carb and fiber counts for the kind I've boughten, but they were acceptable IIRC, including the ingredient list. They are made by TOUFAYAN (email: info@toufayan.com)and the website is http://www.toufayan.com/product.htm but I didn't see them there anymore, so I wonder if they don't advertize them or if they've discontinued them? You could email them and ask them...
I bought these at HyVee food store in Minnesota, but according to the website, their headquarters is in Fla.

If you are traveling to Southern California, we have a wonderful store called Henry's Market that sells Toufayan Low Carb Pita Bread. It has 7 net carbs for the entire round. I usually cut it in half and load it with lots of yummy things (we do Low Carb Gyros in them). I usually only eat 1/2 the round, but when I eat the entire round I have found I still stay in ketos.

Hi! I live in Connecticut. My local supermarket is Stop and Shop, and they carry Joseph's Oat Bran and Flaxseed pitas and wraps. They are great and only 5 carbs each. Also at Stop and Shop in the bakery section are store made low carb wraps, white, wheat and roasted pepper. Not sure of the exact carb count, since I have been buying the Joseph's. A while back they carried a brand called Harbar Wraps, the best! but the company has had production issues, and I have not seen them in quite some time.

Hi~ I have a question about the chocolate 8th continent soy milk. It is ok for Atkins. Im on the long term induction, and I accidentially bought it yesterday when I was in a hurry in the store. How many carbs a serving does it work out to be roughly?
