When I was really heavy, my favorite breakfast was a bagel with cream cheese. Little did I know that it was the bagel that was terrible for me and not the cream cheese. Anyhow, I also started my kids on bagels for breakfast before I knew any better, and my kids still love them. My son will eat the Thomas' Carb Consider bagels, but my daughter won't. The Thomas' bagels have a more spongy breadlike texture that she doesn't like. (Discontinued now.)
I was surprised to find these bagels in Stop & Shop the other day. I hadn't seen them before. I bought a bag to test. Son loved them AND daughter loved them. (I loved them too but they have too many carbs for me to eat on a regular basis.)
They are the most like regular bagels, and the nutritional information isn't bad. I haven't found a wheat version yet, but I'm not sure if they don't have them or if they have just been out. They have inulin, which is a great fiber. Sooo... if you have kids, this is a much better choice than the huge white bagels filled with 60 grams of carbs and sugar and have 320 to 380 calories.
