Man, I love bloggers -- especially smart, careful bloggers who keep their minds open and question everything. Laura from Turtleway is on my short "must read" list. Others include Levi from 12 Black Code Monkeys and Jenny from What They Don't Tell You About Diabetes.
In June I wrote about a study that showed that men and women who got 50 percent of their diet from fat, and 90 percent of that fat was saturated fat, actually improved their lipid profiles on an 1800 calorie diet.
Well, Laura dissects a new study about saturated fat that shows that "women who initially were consuming the most saturated fat, (who also happened to be consuming the most total fat and the least carbohydrates) had the least amount of progression of their heart disease (that is, their arteries stayed more open)."
She goes into the study in depth and talks about open questions and caveats (so read the whole thing), but, as she states, we don't get any discussion about this from the mainstream press!
Gosh, Katherine, thanks so much for the kind and encouraging words!! I love your blog too!
