There are two key steps in making low carb pizza, first you must saute your vegetables in butter before you put them on the pizza. This helps get the water out of them which you need to do because the low carb pizza crust is so thin. You should ideally get low carb pitas for the crust (5g of net carbs and 60 calories.) The low carb pita is much thinner than a normal pita, but you will be able to pick up a piece of pizza in your hand. If you can't find low carb pitas, then you can use low carb tortillas, but you won't be able to pick up the pizza -- a knife and fork will have to do.
First saute onions, mushrooms, peppers, or any other vegetable you choose for the pizza.
Use salsa for pizza sauce. (Salsa is usually inherently low carb, but check the label!)
Slice up beefstick or pepperoni or saute hamburger, turkey, or any other meat with the veggies.
Use pre-packaged cheese or shred your own.
Put low carb pizza pita or tortilla on a dry cookie sheet.
Add salsa, meat, veggies & cheese.
Bake at 350 until the cheese is melted.
Enjoy!

Low carb is a fraud! Fat makes people fat not carbs! Everybody knows this!

Right, Bob, it's a big fraud. That's why we're all losing so much weight on low-carb diets.

If you pan fry the tortilla just until brown before putting it in the oven it stays hard so you can pick it up after you slice it. :)

Bob - where have you been and what are you eating? The low carb diet works and is being proven by more and more studies. One day the government will wake up and realize they have been wrong for years. Remember that the world was once thought to be flat and that margarine was good for you. The food industry is gradually catching on - there are sooo many more products available than when I started the diet three years ago.

Nothing is inherintly evil- fat or carbs. The right kinds of carbs, and the right kind of fats, eaten in moderation and coupled with excercize are they key to healthy living. Pinpointing a culprit is a lzy way out of justifying obeisity. Eat healthy, excercize, and enjoy life y'all!!

I've been on a low-carb program off and on since about 2001 or so. It's not easy to stay on, when you see loaded baked potatoes at every restaurant. But as more people are trying it out, more original recipes are making their way to me. I started this program on my way to a 30W (women's plus size). I'm now heading towards a 24 in pants and skirts and I'm closer to a 20 in tops!
Yes, moving my body has helped, but I believe the low-carb diet has given me more energy. Instead of the starve-stuff cycle where I'm ravenous and then uncomfortably full, I'm more level all the time. I tend towards an upset stomach if I go too long without eating and the low-carb has reduced that.
It takes a lot of willpower to set aside those particular foods that our bodies will store to our detriment. I applaud all of us who work at it, despite the naysayers. Food is no longer a dirty word to me, but exciting---we experiment with all kinds of new ideas, trying to keep those carbs down.
I've tried all kinds of "fad" diets, but they never lasted a week with me. Low-carb isn't a "diet" in my mind, but a lifestyle. In line with my political views, hey, it works for some and not for others. Good luck to us all in finding that place that makes us happiest.

i am a naturally slim woman 5'5'' 128lbs but not very muscular and in my opinion a high % of fat for my wt. (fat knees, fat ankle, no waist definition.
i went low carb and i have seen a difference! carbs do make u fat...in my case they didnt allow me to be truly slim, no matter how much running i did! and i did a lot!!
i am exercising, eating low carb, increased protein, eating the right type of carbs and i have so much more energy, i dont have the highs and lows i had before. my cankles are actually disapearing and i have more muscle tone. i swear by it. i have lost/converted 5lbs of wt. i am down to 123 and much "leaner" looking !!!
sorry to disapoint, bob.
good work ann, i totally sympathize. people always thought (an me included) that because of my "slim" physique that i could eat all i want but eliminating that baked potato does make a difference!
