Steven Den Beste in his most recent post talks about p-idealism and that "P-idealism is actually a fundamental belief about the nature of the universe, which presumes that feelings and thought are primary, and that physical experience is driven by them." Because he hasn't talked about it yet, I think that he doesn't seem to think that this applies to the scientific community because scientists are empiricists. I disagree.
I think the p-idealists have invaded the empiricist lab and aren't about to leave anytime soon. From a distance, I have seen these p-idealists working in the health/diet/ and nutrition world. These p-idealists range from scientists, to doctors, to nutritionists, to nurses. They ignore studies and base their advice on what "should" be versus what actually happens. (Empiricists don't do this or at least keep an open mind until more studies come in.) Michael Crichton talks about a much more insidious area of science where this applies.
